The aircaft in the case is a Short type 184 two seat reconnaissance, bombing and torpedo carrying sea plane made by Petter-Westland in Yeovil in 1916. It is the oldest known surviving British naval aircraft, the oldest known surviving piece of Westland aircraft and was the only aircraft to take part in the historic Battle of Jutland in WWI.
